As a Senior Business Manager for The Excelsior Group (TEG), Margie is responsible for the management of the 370 apartment unit, 365 Nicollet. Her day to day tasks include financial reporting, budget creation, payables, leading the leasing/maintenance team, and providing excellent customer service to the all residents.
Prior to joining TEG, Margie has traveled to various places, experiencing the world of operational management. It was the 1980’s in San Francisco, CA and the culinary craze was just beginning when Margie immersed herself in the culture and was fortunate to land a hospitality job at the prestigious Stanford Court Hotel. After four years at the hotel, she was offered an opportunity to work in the fine arts and left the food and beverage industry to work as Director at S Bernstein & Company, a gallery specializing in museum quality Asian antiquities. In 1993, she relocated to Minneapolis to be close to family, where her interest in the fine arts steered her towards the docent program at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, volunteering as a tour guide for eight years. At the same time, Margie began working in the accounting office of her family’s business which eventually took her to Grand Rapids, Minnesota. Twenty miles from Grand Rapids, the family business built a full-service travel plaza where she worked as an operations manager for four years. After returning to Minneapolis in 2008, she joined D’Amico Catering as a Banquet and General Manager. She was fortunate enough to manage events in premier venues such as The Minneapolis Institute of Arts, The Chambers Hotel and The Walker. In 2014, she accepted the position of Food and Beverage Director at The Commons Hotel on the University of Minnesota campus, working thru the subsequent transition to Graduate, Minneapolis. In 2018, Margie began travelling with Noble House Hotels & Resorts as a Task Force Manager temporarily assigned to various properties within the management portfolio. After 20+ years of operational management experience, Margie is thrilled to be a part of the multifamily management team at TEG.
Margie has a bachelor’s degree in Fine Art from Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame. When not working, she enjoys the Minneapolis art scene, spending time with family, reading, cooking, gardening and all things outdoors.
